The public domain circus music in the chorus is a tune entitled the
"Entrance of the Gladiators" by Julius Fučík.
Programming note: This song is never performed at a children's concert due to the serious family subject matter. Parents have found
it insightful in a clever way to view themselves as was its intention.

Song note: If you wonder why your parents may seem so tired when coming home
from work, this song explains why.
We took our kids to the circus, it’s where they wanted to be.
There were lions and tigers and acrobats
and the biggest clown was me.... the biggest clown was me.
La la lalala (to the circus music tune entitled the "Entrance of the Gladiators.")
Well, I bought my family snowcones and cotton candy too...
Their faces where a mix of colors in purply sticky goo...purply sticky goo!
La la lalala (to the circus music tune entitled the "Entrance of the Gladiators.")
I saw a man on a high wire balance his kids and wife.
It made think of my own three rings and how I live my life.
Oh, I’ve become a juggler, a magician too and sometimes
the ring leader trying to get us through.
La la lalala (to the circus music tune entitled the "Entrance of the Gladiators.")
I’ve listened to the barkers who’ve had their games of skill
and I played each time to win a prize, but it somehow lost its thrill...it somehow lost its thrill.
So, I took off all my grease paint and foamy big red nose
to show a face that was hid so long beneath these funny clothes...
beneath these funny cloths.
La la lalala (to the circus music tune entitled the "Entrance of the Gladiators.")
We enjoyed our time at the big top. There was so much to see.
We saw lions and tigers and acrobats and the biggest clown was me...the biggest clown was me.
