Grandpa took us to the pier with our fishing lines.
It’ was early in the morning about a quarter to nine.
We put on good bait about and hour or two,
We had no nibbles at all with nothing else to do.

We have...
Nothin’ in the bucket... to take home today!
Nothin’ in the bucket... the fish moved away!
Nothin’ in the bucket... how embarresing!

So we changed our spot and it’s Grampa’s idea,
but Grammy stayed in place ‘cause she like it there.
We put on some lures as the seaguls watched,
but there was nothing there either in that brand

new spot at all.

We cast our lines from the beach instead
with giant fish swimming in our heads!
When some new kid came and just cast his pole,
in a matter of minutes he caught a filet of sole,

But for us there was....

As we were driving home past a resturant
hungry as sharks, guess what we’ve got?

Not a nibble at all, but we found a spot

for nothin' in the bucket, nothin' in the bucket today!

Baloney sandwiches, that’s what we got .
Baloney sandwiches, we don’t ask for a lot.
